GIS Day is considered an important event, with world-wide participants numbering over 2,000 organizations, celebrating in about 90 countries around the globe. This event’s objective is to enlighten participants about GIS technologies and applications, and clarifying its impact on the life of millions of people. Based on the importance of GIS in many endeavors, and the great benefits to improving municipal capabilities, the Amana of Jeddah has adopted via its GIS Center the international GIS Day - with this year’s theme: Public Participation GIS in Municipal Services, on Tuesday November 18, 2008, at The Jeddah Westin Hotel.
